diverse tasks types. For example, diverse construction items, tasks that will be executed
by different project participants, or different task types (i.e., construction, demolish)
can be displayed with different colors and assigning different appearances to the task
types. The available options defined in the “Appearance Definitions” command are
given in Figure 15.16. The shortcut for defining appearance of the tasks is also available
by clicking the appearance field of the each task type and selecting an appearance theme
from the drop-down icons. The shortcut for “Appearance Definitions” is depicted in
Figure 15.17.
Creating Selection Sets
After the 3D geometry of the model and the project schedule are imported into the
Navisworks TimeLiner, a “Selection Set” folder structure that lists the work break-
down structure of the “tasks” representing the 3D model should be created. The
“Selection Set” folder can be created in two ways: by utilizing the “Selection Tree”
or by interactively selecting objects in Scene View. The Autodesk Company defines
Selection Tree as “a dockable window, which displays a variety of hierarchical views of
the structure of the model, as defined by the CAD application in which the model was
created” (The Autodesk Company, 2011, p. 338). There are four available options
