Rearing was attempted at the 406th Medical Laboratory. A single female was
obtained from a dog in Chiba Prefecture, June 12, 1967, and 12 females of the F
1
progeny were fed on rabbit ears. Ticks were reared in facilities at the 406th
Medical Laboratory in which temperature was maintained at approximately 25
C
and relative humidity fluctuated from 10% to 70% (
