Ciudad Cultural Konex Sarmiento 3131 T 011 4864
3200, W ciudadculturalkonex.org. Atmospheric cultural
centre in converted warehouse, located in the Once part
of town. Hosts film and theatre productions as well as
live music. Also the home of legendary drumming outfit
La Bomba de Tiempo (shows on Mon at 7pm). Daily.
ND Ateneo Espacio Cultural Paraguay 918 T 011 4328
2888, W ndateneo.com.ar. Cultural space and theatre with
an emphasis on live music. Has shows from 9pm most
evenings and there are also regular evening debates.

with three dancefloors playing mainly electro. Thurs-Sun
from midnight.
Crobar Marcelo Freyres s/n, Paseo de la Infanta T 011

the Hipódromo Argentino that plays commercial dance
music and regularly welcomes international DJs like the
Godskitchen collective. Fri & Sat from 10pm.
Glam Cabrera 3046, Barrio Norte T 011 4963 2521,
W glambsas.com.ar; map p.59. One of the city's hottest
gay bar-discos. Several lounge areas and dancefloors play
everything from Latino beats to 1980s classics. Thurs & Sat
from 1am.
Groove Palermo Av Santa Fe 4389, Palermo W palermo
groove.com; map p.59. Club specializing in live music,
often rock and international bands. Also one of the host
venues of legendary alternative rock/reggae nights Fiesta
Clandestina . Open Sat night for club nights and for live
music during the week (see website for listings).

W living.com.ar; map p.59. Laidback club in a rambling old
building with two bars, a coffee stand and a long, narrow
dancefloor that gets very packed. Plays a fun, danceable
mix of funk, disco and rock music. Thurs from 7pm and Fri
& Sat from 10pm.
Maluco Beleza Sarmiento 1728, Centro T 011 4372

Brazilian club, playing a mix of lambada , afro-samba and
reggae to a lively crowd of Brazilians and Brazilophiles.

Niceto has a roster of mainly reggae and electronic music
at weekends, with the outlandish Club 69 dance parties

TANGO SHOWS
Tango shows are expensive, but they are the best way to
see a series of top tango dancers in one evening, and most
are well worth the splurge. All the following have nightly
shows, and most include dinner. Prices range from around
AR$250 (without food) to VIP treatment with haute cuisine
for over $1000.

puts on fancy shows and encourages audience participation.

café offers an affordable and rather theatrical tango show
downstairs at AR$80-100.
MILONGAS
Milongas - regular dance clubs, usually
starting with lessons (beginners welcome)
- are popular with tango dancers young
and old. They are a great way to try the
moves for yourself and to get a feel for
the scene for a fraction of the price of
a dinner show (entrance usually costs
AR$25). Among the city's best milongas are

La Catedral (Sarmiento 4006, Almagro

8069), a beautiful if crumbling relic of a
dancehall, also holds afternoon classes.

CULTURAL CENTRES
Buenos Aires has a number of excellent and popular cultural
centres promoting culture and the arts. Entry is free, although
special temporary exhibitions occasionally charge a fee.
