The tuna ceviche ( CH$10,000) is divine and the fresh fruit
juices are excellent (if pricey).
La Esquina Te Pito O Te Henua, at Tu'u Koihu. For epic fruit
juices, come to this chilled-out place popular with locals.
The pizza and the empanadas aren't half bad either. Fresh
fruit juice CH$2500; pizza CH$4500.
Kite Mate Plaza Policarpo Toro. This bright-green shack
serves some of the best empanadas on the island
(CH$1500-3000); try the atún y queso .
Merahi Ra'a Te Pito O Te Henua s/n. This is the place to
come for large servings of the freshest grilled fish, the
mahi mahi (dorado) being particularly tasty. Fish dishes
from CH$10,0000.
Mikafé Caleta Hanga Roa s/n. Tiny café with outdoor
seating overlooking the bay featuring the tastiest home-
made ice cream on the island, as well as exotic fruit juices
from CH$3000 (try the guayaba ), and banana cake to die
for. Coffee and cheesecake CH$5000.
La Taverne du Pêcheur Av Te Pito O Te Henua s/n. Sit on
the attractive terrace at the (formerly) best restaurant in
town and dig into expertly prepared fish, accompanied by
island tubers. The desserts are also superb, though the
pleasure doesn't come cheaply, and the quality of the
service depends on the mood of the chef. Mains from
CH$12,000; desserts CH$4000.

guesthouse, set in a garden overflowing with lush
vegetation, ranges from camping spots to large, airy

character, the owners more than make up for by being
