INFORMATION
Money There are a number of ATMs in town; remember to
get cash here if you're heading further into the Amazon
(though Rurrenabaque also has a couple of ATMs).
Tourist information There's a tourist o ce on Av 6 de
Agosto, next to the Hotel Campanario (Mon-Fri 8am-
12.30pm & 2.30-6pm).

EATING
There are some pretty good restaurants on and around
Plaza Ballivián. The beef in Trinidad is excellent and very
good value, while the local speciality is pacumutu , great
chunks of meat marinated and grilled on a skewer.
Carambar Av 6 de Agosto, between Santa Cruz and
Villavicencio. A French-run place with fine crêpes (from
B$8) and a buzzy atmosphere. Wed-Sun 5-11pm.
La Casona Plaza Ballivián. Lively and popular place with
a great atmosphere and good almuerzos as well as steak,
hamburgers and fried river fish. Mains B$30-60. Daily
8am-11pm.
Club Social 18 de Noviembre Plaza Ballivián. A vast,
elegant dining hall with a rather old-fashioned feel, serving
up good-value, filling almuerzos and standard Bolivian
dishes like milanesa (fried meat coated with breadcrumbs)
and pique macho. Daily: lunchtimes only.

ACCOMMODATION

Pretty basic and a short distance from the main plaza, but
the upstairs rooms with private bath and balcony are
spacious and pleasant. Air co nditioning also available at
additional cost. Doubles B$70

downstairs are dark and dire, while those upstairs are
airier and cooler. All come with fans, and there 's a ch oice
