Database Reference
In-Depth Information
In this chapter we will explore the use of Oracle-supplied
database utilities in the Oracle Database 12 c Multitenant
Architecture. We will discuss moving data, performing security
operations, and interacting with other Oracle products in the multitenant environment.
The first topic is a more detailed exploration of Data Pump, which was introduced in
Chapter 10, “Managing Database Resources.” We will use Data Pump to move content in a
non-CDB and a PDB. We will demonstrate Data Pump in an exercise.
The second topic introduces SQL*Loader and how it can be used in the multitenant
environment.
The third topic further explores the use of audit operations, which were discussed in an
earlier chapter.
Finally, we will discuss other products that are used in the multitenant environment:
Database Vault, Data Guard, and LogMiner.
Exam objectives are subject to change at any time without prior notice and
at Oracle's sole discretion. Please visit Oracle's Training and Certification

Moving Data, Performing Security
Operations, and Interacting with Other
Oracle Products
In the new Oracle Database 12 c multitenant architecture, where the multitenant container
database (CDB) can host zero, one, or many DBA-created pluggable databases (PDBs), there
are a few key differences between CDBs and non-CDBs when it comes to moving data, audit-
ing, and using Oracle-supplied utility programs and features. In the following sections we'll
explore some of the common tools and how they function in the multitenant environment.
As a DBA you will undoubtedly field requests to migrate data from one database to
another. You may be asked to clone an entire database, copy only certain schemas, or copy
only certain objects from a source database to a target database. Oftentimes the move is
