6. Use the Eraser brush at 40% opacity to knock out the majority of the fog from the focal point of the
image. You want this layer of fog to serve as a framing element, to help keep the eye focused on the upper
half of the figure ( Figure 5-75 ) .
7. We will soften the fog layers by using the Gaussian Blur filter. Click Filter Blur Gaussian Blur and
set the radius to approximately 3.2 ( Figure 5-76 ). You can see the final effect of the fog layers in Figure
5-77 . The fog serves to add atmosphere as well as create visual interest with a layer of noise that helps fill
in background dead space.
