HISTOLOGICAL ANALYSES
Microscopy
Light microscopy is ideal for histological research endeavors. If the prepared bone section
is thin enough, the light penetrates the slide and allows the histological features to be visible
with the microscope. An anthropologist interested in using bone histology to determine
human from nonhuman remains, to estimate elements of the biological profile, to document
or diagnose diseases and taphonomic processes, or to assess nutritional and biomechanical
