can use the same driver.
Note
Systems with AMD GPUs can use Eyefinity to run up to six displays on a single graphics card.
For more information, see the AMD Eyefinity website.
Heterogeneous Adapters
Heterogeneous adapters are those using chipsets from different manufacturers or from incompatible
chipset families within the same manufacturer, which therefore require different drivers. This method
has largely been superseded by Dualview or by using matching display adapters.
Note
For more information about using heterogeneous adapters, see “Heterogeneous Adapters,” in
Chapter 12, “Video Hardware,” in Upgrading and Repairing PCs, 19 th Edition.
Choosing the Best Display Hardware for a Particular Task
Modern display hardware varies a great deal in features such as display sizes, display technologies,
GPU location, and GPU performance. When configuring a desktop PC or selecting a laptop, you can
select the combination of display and GPU hardware needed to optimize a system for a particular
task. Table 12.23 provides specific display hardware recommendations for different types of
optimized systems.
