Loquat or Japanese Medlar
Loquat or Japanese medlar, Eriobotrya japonica , is native to China, and has
long been cultivated in Japan. Japan is the world's leading producer, followed
by Israel and Brazil. California is the leading North American producer; the
crop is also grown in Florida, the southern portions of the Gulf states, and
Hawaii.
