luggage it will be hard (or impossible) to drag it on board.

BY BUS
Dozens of buses link Manila with the provinces. As a
general rule, if you're arriving from the south, you'll end up
in the Pasay area of EDSA, in the south of the city near Taft
Ave, while if you're arriving from the north you'll find
yourself at the northern end of EDSA in Cubao (Quezon
City). From Pasay you can take the LRT (see p.83) north to
the Malate area (get off at Pedro Gil station) or the MRT
(see p.83) northeast to Makati and beyond. Alternatively, a
taxi from the Pasay area to Malate costs less than P100.
From most bus stations in Cubao it's a short walk to the
Cubao MRT station; a taxi from Cubao to Makati costs
around P150. Leaving Manila by bus can be confusing,
however, as there's no central bus terminal - each company
has its own station, albeit clumped together in Cubao and
Pasay (a third cluster lies on Rizal Ave, known as “Avenida”,
in Quiapo). Usually, if you tell your taxi driver your desti-
nation, they will bring you to the right station. The list
below includes some of the more popular operators.
