ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
SURIGAO
By plane The airport, 5km outside the city on the road to
Butuan, sees daily flights to and from Cebu (Cebu Pacific:
2 daily; 55min) and Manila (PAL Express: 1 daily; 1hr
40min). Tricycles charge P50 into the centre of town.
By bus, jeepney and multicab Buses arrive at the
terminal 4km west of the city centre. Jeepneys and multi-
cabs head into town for P10/person (or P30 for a tricycle).
Heading to Cagayan de Oro or Balingoan (for Camiguin)
you'll need to change in Butuan.
Destinations Butuan (hourly; 2hr); Davao (hourly; 8hr).
By boat The Eva M. Macapagal Passenger Terminal is on
the harbourfront; you can walk or take a tricycle from here
to the city centre. The terminal fee is P20 for all departures.
Coming from the Visayas, Cokaliong Shipping Lines serves
Cebu (4 weekly; 9hr 30min). Heading to Siargao there are a
variety of options from fast, cramped outriggers (2-3hr) to
slower, more spacious and safer roll-on-roll-off boats (3-4hr).
Montenegro ( W montenegrolines.com.ph) runs a daily roll-
on-roll-off service (3hr 30min), as does MV Lines' ferry Fortune
Angel (3hr). Of the bangkas, MV Lines' daily LOP service is
the biggest and safest. All of these boats leave Surigao for
Dapa on Siargao in the morning, so it's best to arrive in town
early or accept you'll spend a night in the city. For Dinagat
there are several morning bangkas to San José (4hr).
