Cagayan de Oro is the best place to eat in northern Mindanao, with a range of affordable restaurants and bars. The
Limketkai Center and the Rosario Strip are crammed with Western-style restaurants and coffee shops, while the old
centre contains plenty of cheaper Filipino joints.
Bigby's Café & Restaurant Rosario Arcade, Limketkai

offering a fusion of Western and Filipino dishes; from
“Rack a Bye Baby” (P399) and katsu dinner chops (P159) to
sandwiches from P175. Don't miss the Midnight Dream

Brew Berry Café A. Velez St at T. Chavez St T 08822
725 291. Good coffee anytime, but worth a visit for the
excellent-value buffets; breakfast (Western and Filipino
dishes) is P139, while dinner (manly Filipino dishes) is
P199 and includes some of the best pork adobo in
Mindanao. Mon-Sat 7am-10pm, Sun noon-8pm.
San Miguel is P40, and there's usually live music at night.
The Velez branch is like a dimly lit bar (with a/c) while the
Tiano branch is open air. Daily 5pm-2am.

Kagay-Anon Restaurant Rosario Arcade, Limketkai
Center T 08822 729 003. Best Filipino restaurant in the
city, famous for local ostrich meat, raised down here since
the early 1990s; the ostrich salpicao (P430) is delicious.
Other dishes to try include steamed lapu lapu (P280-370),
chicken pork adobo (P180), pinakbet (vegetable stew) and
tuna kinilaw . Daily 10am-2pm & 5-10pm.

4444. Classic open-air bar and café in the heart of the city;
sip San Miguel, coffee (from P40) or fruit shakes (P45),
munch sandwiches (P110), or take breakfast (from P70) as

Vienna Kaffehaus 54 A. Velez St at T. Chavez St (in
front of Grand City Hotel) T 08822 712 700. Great coffee
and snacks and a great story; the rival store in Limketkai
Center, with almost the same name ( Vienna Coffeebar ), was
established by the former girlfriend of the owner after an
acrimonious split. Western breakfasts and mains from

Butcher's Best Barbeque (Xavier branch) Corrales
St at Hayes St T 088 857 7333. Popular budget barbecue
restaurant with a/c and open terrace areas. Chargrilled
sticks of pork, chicken and fish run from P12-15, but the
Kenny Rogers Ribs (P75) and sizzling sisig (P75) are real
treats. Mon-Sat 11am-2pm & 5-11pm, Sun 11am-
2pm & 5-10pm.
Inilog Grill A. Velez St (second branch on Tiano St).
Local favourite serving interesting dishes with unlimited
rice: sizzling ostrich (P220) and goat adobo from P170.
