Set in the former home of Carlos Garcia (the fourth President of the Philippine Republic),
the
Bohol Museum
isn't worth a special trip, but if you have some time to kill, the
presidential memorabilia and collection of shells are worthy of half an hour's exploration.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
TAGBILARAN
By plane
The
airport lies less than 2km outside Tagbilaran;
tricycles into town cost P50, and taxis are only a little more
on the meter.
By boat
The ferry
pier in Tagbilaran is off Gallares St, a 1km
tricycle ride from the city centre. Taxis and vans for hire also
wait to meet passengers arriving on ferries.
By bus
All bus journeys
around the island start at Dao
Integrated Terminal, near Island City Mall and the Central
Market, 10min outside Tagbilaran by jeepney or tricycle.
Buses leave here (every 30min-1hr) for all destinations
both clockwise and counter-clockwise around the main
coastal road, as well as along the cross-island road via
Carmen and the Chocolate Hills.
Destinations
Anda (2hr 30min); Baclayon (20min); Bool
(10min); Carmen (90min);
Jagna (90min); Tubigon (90min);
Ubay (4hr).
By taxi, van and tricycle
Travel agents and most hotels
in Tagbilaran and Panglao can arrange car or van hire,
but the cheapest way is to negotiate directly with a taxi
which should cost P2000-4000/day, dependent on your
destinations. Heading for Panglao, it's not hard to find a
taxi, van or tricycle at the airport or pier in Tagbilaran to
whisk you across the bridge and out to Panglao. If you
negotiate a little you won't pay more than P500 for a taxi
to Alona, or P250 for a tricycle.
By jeepney
Jeepneys leave from Dao, making trips
clockwise and anticlockwise around the coast, but they
stop often and become uncomfortably overloaded, so are
best used only for short trips (P8 to Baclayon for example).
By motorbike
The whole island is accessible by motorbike
- a cheap, fun and flexible way to see Bohol. Rentals are easily
available in Tagbilaran and Panglao (around
P400/day).
