In-Depth Information
Cebu City
Gateway to the Visayas, CEBU CITY is the Philippines' second largest city, home to
nearly a million people. Nicknamed the “Queen of the South”, it's peppered with
historic attractions, and worthy of a day or two's exploration before moving on to
the beaches and islands beyond. While an easier introduction to urban life in the
Philippines than Manila, Cebu is not without its problems: streets are often clogged
with smoke-belching jeepneys, and “rugby boys” (see box, p.43) are a common sight.
