Many publishers print books on Hawai'i. Following are a few that focus on Hawaiian

eral list of titles on Hawai'i. The Bishop Museum Press ( www.bishopmuseum.org/
press ) puts out many scholarly works on Hawaiiana, as does Kamehameha Schools
Press ( http://kspress.ksbe.edu ) . Also good, with a more general-interest list, are Bess
Press ( www.besspress.com ), Mutual Publishing ( www.mutualpublishing.com ) , and Pet-
roglyph Press ( www.basicallybooks.com ). In addition, a website specifically oriented to-
ward books on Hawai'i, Hawaiian music, and other things Hawaiian is Hawaii Books

Rhoads, Samuel. The Sky Tonight—A Guided Tour of the Stars over Hawaii. Honolulu:

This beautiful, hand-bound cookbook contains many color photos by Douglas Peebles.
Wong, Alan. New Wave Luau. Berkeley: Ten Speed Press, 1999. With his book, Hawai'i's
prized chef shares wonderful recipes across the board of Hawaiian and local food.

Kamehameha Schools Press. Life in Early Hawai'i: The Ahupua'a. 3rd ed. Honolulu:
Kamehameha Schools Press, 1994. Written for schoolchildren to better understand the
basic organization of old Hawaiian land use and its function, this slim volume is a good
primer for people of any age who wish to understand this fundamental societal fixture.
