Ke'anae Peninsula, as seen from the Overlook
Wailua Valley State Wayside Park
Only 0.7 miles from the Wailua turnoff is the small parking area for Wailua Valley State
Wayside Park. The dirt hunting road which runs back into the valley looks as if it might
disappear, but it leads to an overlook offering sweeping coastal views. Many visitors drive
right past it because you can't see the overlook from the road; you need to stop in the des-
ignated parking area and look to your right for a hidden set of stairs. Follow the stairs to
the top, and you'll be rewarded with a panoramic vista from the Ke'anae Overlook. It's a
good place to stretch your legs and get a photo that not too many others will have.
Mile Marker 19.6: Upper Waikani Falls
Upper Waikani Falls
Back on the road, the next sight you'll encounter is the three-part Upper Waikani Falls,
also referred to as Three Bears Falls. This is a great place to stop for a swim. There's only
