Shuttle
For those who are staying at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort, a complimentary shuttle
(808/875-5833, 6am-9:30pm) runs on a first-come, first-served time schedule between the
areas of Wailea and Makena Resort. Although the shuttle can't take you any farther than
the Shops at Wailea, you can then hop on the Maui Bus if you need to connect to another
location.
Anyone needing a ride to the airport can contact Roberts Hawaii (866/293-1782,
www.robertshawaii.com/mauiexpress ) . Expect fares to run $13-41 per person depending
on where you're staying and the number of people in your party.
Motorcycles and Mopeds
If you just want to cruise around town on a small moped or feel the wind through your hair
on a steel horse, there are a number of different operators in town to choose from.
In the Azeka Makai shopping center in North Kihei, Hawaiian Island Cruisers (1280
S. Kihei Rd., 808/446-1111, www.hawaiiancruisers.com , 9am-5pm Mon.-Sat., 10am-2pm
Sun.) offers mopeds which range from $35/day to $300/week.
In the Kukui Mall in central Kihei, Maui Boy Mopeds (1819 S. Kihei Rd., 808/
874-8811, www.mauiboymopeds.com , 8am-5pm daily) has rentals from $15 for two hours
to $300/week, and they usually offer the most competitive rates around town.
In the Kamaole Shopping Center beneath Denny's, Aloha Motorsports (2463 S. Kihei
Rd., 808/667-7000, www.alohamotorsports.com , 8am-5pm daily) rents out everything
from Harleys ($119 for four hours) to mopeds ($343/week). They sometimes offer free
hotel pickup.
Bus
For the most economical way to get around the island other than your two feet, the Maui
Bus has a number of lines that operate throughout South Maui. All sections are $2/board-
ing, or you can also buy a $4/day pass if you know you'll be hopping on and off a lot.
The Kihei Villager Route #15 runs between Ma'alaea Harbor Village and Pi'ilani Shop-
ping Center 6:05am-8:30pm with various stops in between. The Kihei Islander Route #10
runs between Wailea Ike Drive by the Shops at Wailea and Queen Ka'ahumanu Center in
Kahului 5:30am-9:30pm, and if you are trying to get to North Kihei or Ma'alaea, you can
transfer at Pi'ilani Shopping Center to the Kihei Villager Route #15. For those trying to
make it to the west side of the island early and quick, a commuter bus leaves from the
corner of Kilohana Street and South Kihei Road at 6:15am and reaches the Ritz-Carlton in
