sleeves), and some of the collection even dates back to the 1940s. If you've ever wondered
what a $2,000 aloha shirt looks like, this is the place to find out.
Wailea Town Center
Although this is mostly an office complex, there's one retail outlet worth a mention.
Wailea Wine (161 Wailea Ike Pl., 808/879-0555, www.waileawine.com , 10am-6pm
Mon.-Fri., 10am-5pm Sat.) has an exceptional selection of wines from all across the globe
(and one of the largest selections on the island), and the gourmet culinary options are on
par with any other fine foods mart you'll find across the state.
Entertainment
MA'ALAEA
Family Fun
Although the Maui Ocean Center is the undisputed kid-favorite among all the stops
in Ma'alaea, the Maui Golf and Sports Park (80 Ma'alaea Rd., 808/242-7818,
www.mauigolfandsportspark.com , 10am-5pm daily) is another option if you're trying to
keep the kids entertained for a few hours. There are two 18-hole miniature golf courses,
bumper boats, and a small rock climbing area, and even though the minigolf is expensive
($14) it's for as many holes as you want.
Live Music
In the downstairs section of the Ma'alaea Harbor Shops Beach Bums (300 Ma'alaea
Rd., 808/243-2286, open until 9pm) occasionally has live music during the late afternoon
and evenings to accompany periodic drink specials and a jovial sports bar atmosphere. If
you're staying in one of the condos at Ma'alaea, this is your best bet for finding a hap-
pening atmosphere and the chance to mingle with local fishers and boat crews who are
drinking their way through that morning's tips.
KIHEI
There aren't nearly as many entertainment options in Kihei when compared to areas such
as Lahaina or Ka'anapali. All of the dinner shows and lu'aus are in Wailea. Even trying to
find daytime events such as free hula shows can be a fruitless search. The last bastion of
family entertainment—the movie theaters at Kukui Mall—closed down at the end of 2012.
