If one word defines South Maui, it's “beaches.” South Maui is graced with dozens of sandy
stretches waiting for your footprints, including the island's longest beach, Sugar Beach,
and one of its smallest, Pa'ako Cove. You could visit a different beach every day of a
weeks-long vacation and still leave some areas untouched. Best of all, because much of
South Maui faces west, the end of each day comes with a sunset that somehow surpasses
the day before. It's the picture of paradise.
It's also one of the driest and hottest areas in the state. Mornings in South Maui are
perfect for snorkeling or stand-up paddling, while the Maui Ocean Center in Ma'alaea
provides the opportunity to explore Maui's underwater world regardless of the conditions
outside.
Here the mega-resorts of West Maui give way to rows of condos, making South Maui
