used by the shamans of Nepalese tribes.

On Saturday (1pm) and Sunday (11am) there are free hula shows and live performances
at the Maui Mall (70 E. Ka'ahumanu Ave., 808/877-8952, www.mauimall.com ) , and
a monthly calendar of events can be found on the website. Across town, the Queen
Ka'ahumanu Shopping Center (275 W. Ka'ahumanu Ave., 808/877-3369,
www.queenkaahumanucenter.com ) offers free hula shows on Monday mornings at
10:30am as well as a rotating schedule of other free performances. As with the Maui Mall,
a monthly calendar of events can be found online.
Evening Shows
The best option for evening entertainment in Kahului is the Maui Arts and Cultural
Center (1 Cameron Way, 808/242-7469, www.mauiarts.org ), where a constantly changing
schedule of live concerts, movies, exhibits, comedy shows, and family events takes place
many nights of the week. Multiple events often happen on the same evening. It's best to
check the website for a list of upcoming events.
Bars
The most popular nightlife option in Kahului is the Kahului Ale House (355 E.
Ka'ahumanu Ave., 808/877-9001, www.alehouse.net , 11am-12:30am Mon.-Thurs.,
11am-2am Fri.-Sun.) in the parking lot of the Maui Mall. On Friday and Saturday nights
there are either live performances by local artists (mostly reggae) or DJs spinning
nightclub tunes.
If you would rather shoulder up to a bar without the fanfare of a full-on nightclub,
Koho's Grill and Bar (275 W. Ka'ahumanu Ave., 808/877-5588, 7am-10pm Sun.-Thurs.,
7am-11:30pm weekends) inside the Queen Ka'ahumanu Shopping Center offers happy
hour and evening drink specials.
