Nakalele Blowhole
Kapalua Labyrinth
Though not a sight in the traditional sense of the word, the massive white-coral labyrinth
which has been constructed on the point between D.T. Fleming Beach Park and Oneloa
Bay is a place of palpable power and sweeping ocean views. The rocky point that this
labyrinth is set on is a sacred spot to native Hawaiians, who believe it to be one of the
places where souls would leap from this world into the next. Though the middle of the
day can be marred by high winds, early mornings and the hour just before sunset are great
times to walk in your pensive circles. To reach the labyrinth, you can either scramble up
the rocks on the southern end of D.T. Fleming Beach Park, or, if approaching from the in-
terior of Kapalua, park in the small parking lot at the juncture of Office Road and Lower
Honoapi'ilani Road and follow the small path out toward the point. You will be parallel-
ing the golf course here, so prior to reaching the labyrinth keep an eye out for golfers who
might be teeing off into the area.
