Increase customer base via outreach into
rural areas. The market segments will re-
dress new customers, existing loyal cus-
tomers, and local healthcare workers.
on in-kind support. These agreements are then
utilized to secure cash funding for implementation.
In this respect, the IEEE provided initial funding
to the volunteers to contact clients, conduct field
visits, and support with logistics for fund raising.
The above approach was adopted with clients
in India. We defined an outline technical solution,
then visited and discussed to secure partnership
agreements and define a framework to imple-
mentation.
Convert inpatients into outpatients at a
higher rate, having better utilization of re-
sources for a wider population.
Provide for specialty care tracking.
6.4. Assessment
7.1. Technology Provision
The solution team's understandings from docu-
ments and discussions are as follows:
An outline of the technology implementation
plan is given in the diagram of Figure 4. The
main technology components are described in
the following.
1. The public health system appears to be want-
ing in delivering rural healthcare services,
and there is much scope for improvement.
2. Both trust and commercial private hospitals
are keen on increasing their market share by
reaching out to the rural community.
3. The issue with rural healthcare is not only
healthcare services but also education and
awareness amongst the population of issues
such as sanitation, vaccination, etc.
4. Although eMamta appears to be the best
electronic tracking system in implementa-
tion now, it is largely statistical in its nature
and will not include medical records from
hospitals. It also depends on manual filling
of forms and does not include an electronic
tagging facility.
RFID Tracking System
The system employs commercially available de-
vices to improve in patient care and safety through
support of an effective, collaborative working
environment for medical and administrative
staff. The Motorola MC70 is a rugged handheld
mobile RFID device that incorporates a mobile
phone, PDA, computer, scanner and imager in a
single unit. A biometric attachment with contact
and contactless smart card reader provides for
identity management. The database required for
the application resides on a server, holding all
tables and other relational objects.
In conclusion, it is feasible and indeed timely
to implement the proposed eHealth tracking and
records management system.
7i Clinic Software
7iClinic is a scalable, secure, and compliant
healthcare management system, designed for
practices, clinics, and billing service providers
of virtually any size. 7iClinic helps healthcare
providers comply strictly with all relevant HIPAA
standards. The software is a web-based solution
that allows medical practitioners to manage their
patient data, history, medical data, documents,
prescriptions, images and billing.
7. IMPLEMENTATION
The solution team adopted a business approach
to redressing various issues in this project. We
acted to define a market and a product and then
seek funding to support implementation. The
definitions of product and market required close
consultation with client(s) leading to agreements
