Beginning the Install on Windows XP and Windows 7
To begin installing Realm Crafter on your Windows Vista or Windows 7
machine, follow these steps:

1. Ensure you are logged in as an Administrator.
2. Download the full version of the program from the Realm Crafter
website. Double-click on the setup file to start the installation process.
3. You can now follow the

“ Main Install Process � heading, which will be

discussed later in this chapter.

Beginning the Install on Windows Vista
To begin installing Realm Crafter on your Windows Vista machine, follow these
steps:

1. If you are running the Vista operating system, ensure you are logged in
as an Administrator.
2. First you have to disable User Access Control (UAC) to successfully
install Realm Crafter. To do so, you need to click on the start bar and
select Control Panel. Select User Accounts and then select Turn User
Account Control On or Off. You can see this in Figure 4.1.
3. Unselect the checkbox to turn off UAC, as shown in Figure 4.2. You will
now need to reboot your PC.
4. Once your PC has rebooted, right-click on the Realm Crafter Professional
executable and select Run as Administrator.
5. You can now follow the

Main Install Process
The installation process will begin and extract a number of files to your hard
disk. Once this extraction process completes, the Welcome dialog box appears,
as shown in Figure 4.3.
