Note
You may notice that the first two MMO ideas are set in a small town, whereas the third deals with
an initial small colony. Starting small like this allows you to create a small area in which you can
more easily control events. Many MMOs start in a small area before opening up to a bigger world.
This could be a training/learning area where you introduce the story to the players or show them
how to play. Many MMOs begin in a small area, allow the players to gain a few levels and upgrade
their skills before they move out into the wider and more complex world.
Creating Maps and Places to Go
When you begin to design your MMO, you need an idea of how your initial areas
will look, and what areas are available in your world. Even if you are just creating
a starter area or a single zone, you will still need to map out these basic areas.
