In-Depth Information
Other ways you can
players when they die is to reduce a number of
skill points every time they suffer a death. As with negative XP, there should be a
limit to how many points players can lose; otherwise, players might decide to
stop playing if it becomes too difficult.

Personally I prefer not to punish my players too much for fear of discouraging
players from playing altogether.
Inventory
Inventory is where players store their wares that they have purchased, created, or
taken off the body of a creature. At its very basic level, an inventory represents a
set of bags or rucksack where players store their goods.
The bag system is usually put to good effect by having a limited number of slots
or a restricted size. As players increase in levels, they are able to get larger bags
and carry more items.
Banks
A bank has the same use as it does in the real world; it is a place to store valuables.
In some MMOs, banks are used only to store money, whereas other games allow
you to store any items you find, such as spells, potions, scrolls, and weapons.
MMOs allow players to find many different items on their travels, and carrying
all of these items is not an option. Therefore, storing them for future use is
important. There is still the issue of limited storage space within a bank; some
games restrict storage space, such as World of Warcraft, whereas games such as
Ultima Online have a more unrestricted storage policy.
In games that restrict the number of slots that you can have, you are able to pay
the bank to upgrade the amount of slots. As you unlock further slots, the cost
becomes more expensive. This is another way to implement micro transactions
into your game.
A bank is an important aspect of any MMO and should be available in a number
of places so that players do not have to travel halfway around the world to
deposit their goods. Banks can be in the players
'
starting locations or in the main
friendly cities and towns.
