Some games allow other players to loot dead players
possessions from their
dead bodies. In any game where this is the case, such players take a more
defensive line until they can get to a safe place to store any important items
safely.

In City of Heroes, death incurs a penalty to the experience points the dead player
has and the character is then placed in the hospital. This was fine to begin with,
but if the player was attempting to complete a difficult area of the game, she
could incur a very large negative XP tally, which could make it difficult to level
up in the game.
