One type of group that has become a primary way of keeping in contact with
people who you regularly play with is a guild. A guild is a user-created group,
usually with a user specified name. Some players take guilds very seriously and
have a set of rules that players must abide by. Players often come and go in
guilds on a regular basis, often joining just to get help completing a certain
aspect of a game, whereas others will have many friends and acquaintances
whom they regularly play with over a number of years.
Most MMOs have a special screen in their game to create or join a guild. Most of
the time you will find out about a guild from another player, who invites you to
it if you perform well in a group quest.
Experience and Levels
Your players should accumulate experience points (XP for short) completing
quests and killing creatures. XP is usually the basic indicator used to level up
players. When players level up, they normally acquire new skills, potions, or
spells. In some MMOs, the leveling up allows new items every two to four levels
gained, so a player would receive new skills at level 2, 4, 6, and so on. Most
MMOs have a level cap; this is the maximum level that a player can reach, for
example level 50. Once the player has reached this level, they won

gain any further skills or experience points.
MMOs generally release new content or expansion packs that increase the
number of levels that a player can achieve.

Non-Player Characters (NPCs)

characters that you will meet in the course of the game. NPCs are the key
characters in the game that will provide the players with quests and little
conversational set pieces to move the story forward. In some MMOs, you
