Guild Wars
Guild Wars is a cooperative player vs. player MMO, set in a fantasy world called
Tyria. When it was released in 2005 it became an instant hit as it was one of the
only MMOs to be free of monthly subscriptions (since then others have
followed). Since the release of the first product, a number of expansion packs
have been released and according to the developers over 6 million boxed
products have so far been sold.

Star Wars has already had one very successful MMO associated with it in Star
Wars Galaxies. Star Wars the Old Republic is a new MMO in development from
Lucas Arts and Bioware. With this MMO the developers are hoping to introduce
a more story-driven element to playing an MMO. The game takes place 3,500
years before the rise and fall of Darth Vader.
This is considered one of the AAA big hitters with regards to MMOs. With the
size, scale, and scope of the project, it certainly has a chance of emulating
