In-Depth Information
Having found a transcript of a local lord
s plot to overthrow the king, you
decided to pass this vital information on to the king. Little did you know that the
message was intercepted by the traitorous Edmond, the king
'
s key advisor. Two
days after passing on this information you were handed a note to meet the king
at an old abandoned stone circle. You went expecting to see the king, but were
instead ambushed and left for dead. Somehow you will get your revenge, but you
cannot go home, and you have no money. Can you save the king in time?
'
Background: Another time in history that
s pretty interesting and has already
been used in many MMOs is that of medieval times. Many MMOs don
'
t use it
directly as a point of reference (history) but take many of its concepts and build
it within their old game world/history.
'
In Medieval Wars, you take the role of a character in one of the great Medieval
European countries. Your initial aim is to try to raise funds and make
acquaintances to start building a force that can take out those who want to
remove the king. You are taken in by a local farm, where you are given help and
a job. You know that you cannot initially tell anyone about your plight as you
don
'
t know whom to trust.
There are lots of sources of inspiration for a medieval-based game,
in TV
programs, books, and films such as the following.
TV:
n Robin Hood
n Robin of Sherwood
n Cadfael
n Merlin
n Horrible Histories
Movies:
n Robin Hood (many different versions)
n Kingdom of Heaven
n A Knight
s Tale
n First Knight
