In-Depth Information
There is a selection of eight tools, starting from the top left, working across and
then onto the second row, that consist of the following items:
n Raise/Lower: Raises or lowers the terrain, useful for creating hills, dips,
or mountains.
n Fix Terrain Height: Fixes the terrain at a particular height. This tool
allows you to move the terrain up and down. You can import a flat
terrain and then use this option to sculpture it. Another common
method is to import a terrain that is all the same height and then use
this option to create a canyon.
Smooth: When creating terrains, some of the terrain will look very
uneven, especially when you

re dealing with different heights. These
can make your terrain look graphically poor. The Smooth tool
will take the two different heights and smooth them out by reducing the
angle of terrain.
n Erosion : Erodes the terrain, as if water has been running through the
zone. This is useful for creating rivers.
n Ramp : Creates a raised ramp/platform, useful for creating a terrain-based
bridge or crossing between two separate areas. To use this tool, select the
first and second points of the ramp and the software will draw the
connection between the two.
n Paint Holes: Removes a section of the terrain. Can be used to create a
hole in the terrain where other objects can be placed, such as a cave.
n Paint: Paints the terrain a particular color.
n Paint Grass: Places a selection of grass objects onto the terrain.
