The additional tabs in the Actors tab.
n Factions : The Factions tab allows you to set up the rivalries between var-
ious groups. Is one group friendly with another, or are they at all-out
war?
n Animations : Allows you to set up the different animations that an actor
will have, such as walking, running, and attacking.
n Abilities : These are abilities that the player can initiate at any point,
such as heal self, heal other, or poison. If you have played other MMOs,
you could call them spells or buffs.
n General Settings : Allows you to configure a number of general settings,
such as combat delay times and currency amounts.
Note
A mountis an actor within an MMO that the player can ride around the game world. In a game like
UltimaOnlineor WorldofWarcraft, a mount could also be a horse, an ostrich, or perhaps even a
dragon. You could be making a game in a Sci-Fi setting and so the mount could easily be a robot or
a vehicle.
Actors Sub-Tab
The Actors sub-tab is the first of the five sub-tabs available. You can see the
initial screen in Figure 8.2, the application window is separated into three
sections.
n Actors Tree Pane : Here you will see all currently available actors within
your game. Having already played a test of the MMO, you will recall
that you can select a human or lizard creature.
Setup : This section includes a description of the actor and some basic
settings. This description is not used in-game and is for the game
developer
