In-Depth Information
using this format. OGG is a good alternative as it is license-free and it is
more efficient (smaller in size) than WAV.
Music:
n OGG: Good format to use, as mentioned previously, but may need spe-
cialist sound applications to save in this format.
n MID: MIDI is a format that has been used in games for a very long
time. You can connect a MIDI compatible music device to your com-
puter and connect it to a supporting software application, and then cre-
ate your own music effects.
n WAV: WAV is a good format for music, but can be on the large size.
You can use third-party applications such as Adobe SoundBooth to con-
vert WAV files into lower quality files to reduce the file size.
n MOD: MOD is another format that has been around for a very long
time. I would generally recommend using WAV or OGG formats when
possible.
n S3M: This is a format based on MOD. Unless you have S3M formatted
files, it is recommended that you use WAV, OGG, or MIDI.
n XM: Another old format that you shouldn
'
t use unless you have files for-
matted in this way.
IT: Another old format that you shouldn
'
t use unless you have files for-
n
matted in this way.
