Karyotype Crepis capillaris .
As far as the seeds germinate at ¿ rst in mitosis comes the cells from the phase of
S then from the phase of G1. If the chemical mutagen interacts with the chromosome
before the start of germination that is before the start of DNA synthesis in phase G1,
then in metaphases of germinating seedling must appear rearrangements of chromo-
some type. The data of our experiments, show that after treatment by phosphemid of
seeds in the 2 n -methaphases appear rearrangements of chromatid type.
21.2 MATERIALS AND METHODOLOGY
Air-dried seeds of Crepis capillaris of crop of 1967 were analyzed in 1968: April (8
months of storage after harvest), June (10 months of storage), and July (11 months of
storage). In the control and in the experiments used distilled water. The chromosome
aberrations were analyzed in seedlings (meristem of root tip).
A certain amount of seeds (100 pieces) were treated in an aqueous solution phos-
phemid of concentrations: 1 × 10 -2 M (22.4 mg was dissolved in 10 ml water), 2 ×
10 -2 M (22.4 mg was dissolved in 50 ml) or 2 × 10 -3 M (2.24 mg dissolved in 50 ml of
water). The treatment was carried out at room temperature (19-21°C) for 3 hr. Then
the seeds were washed with running water for 45 min. The washed seeds were placed
in Petri dishes on ¿ lter paper moistened with a solution of colchicine (0.01%). Seeds
