Theatre & Cinema
Theatre, except for drama festivals, is usually performed in Korean: the very lively theatre
scene in Daehangno is worth a visit despite this. There's also a small number of expat
theatre groups that do have shows in English, including the Probationary Theatre Com-
pany ( www.probationarytheatre.com ) , Seoul Players ( www.seoulplayers.com ) and the
Seoul Shakespeare Company ( www.facebook.com/seoulshakespeare ) . Musicals and non-
verbal performance shows, such as Nanta, can be enjoyed even if you don't understand
any Korean.
Non-Korean movies are screened in their original language with subtitles. There's also
a city-funded program of Korean movies with subtitles - call
02 120 for details.
