NATIONAL MUSEUM OF KOREA
Korea's National Museum occupies a grand, marble-lined, modernist complex, built on the former golf course of
the adjacent US military base. Set in landscaped parklands, the massive Great Hall displays a fraction of the mu-
seum's 270,000 cultural treasures from prehistoric times to the Joseon dynasty.

Hour-long English-language tours leave from National Museum of Korea Great Hall lobby
at 10.30am and 2.30pm; alternatively you can rent an audio guide or ask for the useful

Among the must-see exhibits in the ground-floor galleries are the Baekje Incense Burner,
a decorative metal piece that's an extraordinary example of the artistry of the 6th- to 7th-
century Baekje Kingdom; and the Golden Treasures for the Great Tomb of Hwangham, a
delicate 5th-century gold belt and crown dripping with jade gems.
