K-INDIE SCENE
US-born singer-songwriter and cafe-bar owner Ray Kang has been in Korea since 1996. He presents Indie After-
noon on TBS 101.3FM.
What is K-Indie?
It's a hidden gem - real voices (not manufactured as in K-Pop) and real artists. It covers all genres - rock, jazz,
hip-hop etc - and you really see the performers' creative lives. However, it hardly gets any exposure at all. The
big record companies are not interested in picking up most artists for wider distribution, and apart from our show
it's impossible to hear on the radio.
Where can you hear it?
Hongdae is the mecca of the K-Indie scene. Check out the live music clubs Ta, FF, Freebird, V-Hall (in KT&G
SangsangMadang) and C-Cloud. Music festivals are another popular stage for K-Indie artists ( CLICK HERE ).
