These zones were named after prominent designers of virtual worlds.
n Dungeon of Bartle. Named for Richard Bartle. In addition to writing
our primary text, Bartle was co-designer with Roy Trubshaw of MUD,
the first virtual world in 1979.
n Garriott Gardens. Named after Richard Garriott, designer of the Ultima
series of role-playing games. Ultima 4 was notable as one of the first solo
games to feature moral choices, which affected the development of the
player
s avatar. Ultima Online , released in 1997, was the first MMO to
truly earn the title
