screen, will have greater constraints on video bit rates, and is very
cost sensitive. The home entertainment systemwill most likely be
a 1080p system. The common MPEG-2 levels are low, main, and
high. There is also a level for a particular European high-definition
format with the frame aspect ratio of 1440
1152 pixels.

Profiles are groups of algorithmic options that may be used in
the decoding process and allow different levels of complexity in
decoder implementations. A decoder used in a broadcast studio
environment will probably be more sophisticated than that used
in home equipment.
Due to the new features in the permissible profiles, MPEG-2
was able to accommodate a wide range of compression quality
requirements, compared to the rather simple Mquant adjustment
