In-Depth Information
USVI ATLANTIC BLUE MARLIN TOURNAMENT
The tournament is a mega-lure for sportfishers worldwide, who unite on St Thomas in
late August to participate in a tag-and- release event that benefits the islands' Boy Scouts
( www.abmt.vi ).
October
Businesses blow the dust off the hurricane shutters mid-to-late month and start
to open up again (many close during September). The third Monday is Hurricane
Thanksgiving Day in the USVI, and with that, the season's worst is over.
FOXY'S CAT FIGHT & HALLOWEEN PARTY
Another of Foxy's good-time regattas on Jost Van Dyke, this one is for catamarans.
It's held around Halloween weekend, and a wild costume party caps off the event
( www.foxysbar.com ) .
November
It's a rainy month, but it comes in bursts. The cooling winds start to pick up. Other
than the USVI Thanksgiving holiday at month's end, November offers value prices
for activities and lodging.
VI FUNGI FEST
Musicians from around the islands come to Road Town, Tortola, for a weekend of concerts
celebrating the local folk music. Bands use homemade percussion such as washboards,
ribbed gourds and conch shells to accompany a singer ( www.vifungifest.com ) .
