In-Depth Information
Customs Regulations
» The USVI and BVI allow a reasonable amount of personal items, including laptop com-
puters and water-sports equipment, to be brought in duty-free.
» Determining what you can take home depends on your country of origin. Check with
your country's customs agency for clarification.
» US citizens (including children) can bring home, duty-free, 5 liters of alcohol and
$1600 worth of goods total from the Virgin Islands, though at least $800 in items and
one of the liters of alcohol must be from the USVI. US Customs & Border Protection
( www.cbp.gov ) has details.
» You do not clear customs entering the USVI if you're coming from the United States.
» You do clear customs entering the BVI, though it is usually a fast and easy process.
» Pets can be brought into the USVI without any special shots or paperwork. For the BVI,
you need a permit from the Department of Agriculture( 284-495-2532) .
» You cannot take fruits or vegetables out of either the USVI or BVI.
» Save your receipts, as a customs agent may ask to see them along with the items pur-
chased.
