In-Depth Information
( 284-495-9104; mains $12-22; lunch & dinner) Next door to Jewel's, Gertrude's
is another low-key beach bar with tasty sandwiches, rotis and fish dishes to go with her
cocktails.
Little Harbour & Around
This is Jost's quieter side, with just a few businesses. It's a popular stop for yachts that des-
cend on the harbor, especially on weekends.
Sights & Activities
Bubbly Pool SWIMMING HOLE
This natural whirlpool formed by odd rocky outcrops is reached via a goat trail from Foxy's
Taboo restaurant. When waves crash in, swimmers experience bubbling water like that of
a Jacuzzi. Don't worry: it's enclosed and safe. Bring a picnic and stay a while. The folks at
Taboo can provide directions; it's a 20-minute walk.
Little Harbour Beach BEACH
Little Harbour's east edge has a thin, steep strand of white sand perfect for sunbathing and
swimming in water protected from wind and waves.
Diamond Cay National Park PARK
Travelers who follow the road all the way to the east end of Jost will see a tiny offshore
island at the southern end of Long Bay. This is the 1ΒΌ-acre Diamond Cay National Park.
Pelicans, boobies and terns nest here. There is good snorkeling nearby on the coral heads in
shallow Long Bay as well as along the south side of Little Jost Van Dyke. Be very careful
of the boats and dinghies moving through the anchorages here.
