Thelma's Hideout WEST INDIAN $$
( 284-495-5646; mains $17-25; breakfast, lunch & dinner) Find this West Indian
hangout on the side road leading to Little Dix Bay resort. Seating is in an open-air court-
yard, and there is a stage where a band plays during high season. Thelma will serve you
breakfast, but most travelers come here for her conch stew. You must make dinner reserva-
tions by 3pm for a table that night.
Bath & Turtle PIZZA, BURGERS $$
( 284-495-5239;mains$14-21; breakfast,lunch&dinner; ) In a courtyard sur-
rounded by the Yacht Harbour mall, this casual pub cooks up pizza, quesadillas and seared
ahi tuna salad. At night it's a fun scene, with live music on Wednesday. A lending library
and free wi-fi add to the general goodwill B&T generates.
Mine Shaft Café SEAFOOD $$
( 284-495-5260; www.mineshaftbvi.com ; sandwiches $15-18, mains $20-30;
lunch & dinner) You can't beat the location, perched high on a hill overlooking the At-
lantic Ocean on Copper Mine Rd. The food is pretty good, too, including burgers (even
the veggie variety), wraps and mains like lobster in rum-lemon-cream sauce. Owner Elton
Sprauve throws a monthly full-moon party, complete with live music, warm breezes, cheap
rum punch and grilled meats. If you can't make that shindig, at least come here for a view-
tastic sunset cocktail. Kids will enjoy puttering around the mini-golf course.
