Standing alone on the southwest coast, these suites have the pri-
vacy and isolation that some travelers crave. The one-, two- and three-bedroom units are
spread out along a private beach in the shadow of the old fort's martello tower. The pool
sits in a garden of hibiscus, oleander and palms. Everything is top drawer, and the views
of St John and Norman Island to the south and west are expansive. Bonus: staff offer free
yoga and pilates classes on the dock each morning.

Sebastian's is well known for its friendly staff and its pretty stretch of
beachfront. The rooms come in a wide range of styles and sizes. The higher-end ones open
out to the beach and have a balcony, while the lesser-priced ones are across the road, away
from the beach, in a courtyard sans views. Take a good look around before deciding; room
decor and brightness vary even within the same price bracket. All rooms are straightfor-
ward motel-style, with flowery bedspreads and a mini-refrigerator. There's a good onsite
restaurant (with free wi-fi) if you're feeling too lazy to travel elsewhere.

On the north side of Sopers Hole, next to the ferry dock, this is the place to drop your
bags if you're taking an early or late boat. Five very basic rooms sit above the busy Jolly
Roger's restaurant. Configurations range from a unit with private bathroom and air-condi-
tioning, to others that share a bathroom and have no air-con.

Long Bay is Tortola's only large, full-scale resort, home to several pools, tennis courts,
jogging trails, restaurants, bars and a pitch-and-putt golf course. The property spreads out
along the bay of the same name at the west end of the island. It offers more than 70 rooms
plus additional private homes and rental villas hidden among the vegetation of a north-fa-
