Elm Beach Bar LIVE MUSIC
( 284-494-2888; Cane Garden Bay) Elm's is worth checking out if you are looking
for an intimate and welcoming beachside bar to kick back with a few friends and friendly
Tortolians. The Elmtones, a rock/blues cover band, play frequently. On Memorial Day, the
bar rocks when it becomes the official Tortola headquarters for crews racing in Foxy's
Woodenboat Regatta.
Myett's LIVE MUSIC
( www.myettent.com ; Cane Garden Bay) Myett's is the competition down the beach. It
draws a lot of people off the charter boats and features local bands nightly during high sea-
son. Very different kinds of bands play here: rock, country, pop, Deadhead and even coun-
try and western.
Getting There & Away
Getting to Jost Van Dyke from Cane Garden Bay is a requirement for many visitors, so loc-
al outfitters heed the call with water taxi services. Cane Garden Bay Pleasure Boats &
WaterSports( 284-495-9660) boats depart around 10am most days; prices vary. Look
around the beach near Rhymer's and the Big Banana for other water taxis, as well.
West Island
The western end of Tortola draws a large number of travelers, as it is home to many resort
hotels and villa rentals, a couple of spectacular beaches, vistas of the offshore islands, dis-
tinctive restaurants and legendary bars.
Sights
Sopers Hole MARINA
( www.sopershole.com ) A major anchorage on the West End, Sopers Hole is the site of
a 16th-century pirate's den. The marina and shopping wharf bustle with great restaurants,
bars and water sports operators, and provide amenities such as a grocery store and ATM.
The ferry terminal for vessels going to and from Jost Van Dyke, St John and St Thomas
(Red Hook) is here, too.
