In-Depth Information
(Waterfront Dr) Pusser's attracts an early- evening crowd of sailors and expats. The two-
for-one drink specials are a big draw during the lengthy 4pm to 7pm happy hour.
Bat Cave BAR
(Wickhams Cay 1) The Bat Cave is a backroom bar off the Spaghetti Junction restaurant,
across from cruise ship dock. There is a pool table here and a small harborside deck to catch
the trade winds. You'll find lively conversation and a pulsing sound system that pumps out
classic rock. The crowd is a mix of travelers and expats between 25 and 40.
Village Cay BAR
(Wickhams Cay 1) The Village Cay always has a lively crowd tossing back adult bever-
ages.
Le Grand Cafe CAFE
(WaterfrontDr) It's a place to sip wine or martinis, not slug down beer in your shorts and
T-shirt. The scene is very chic, with low lights and the scent of French cooking and Brazili-
an or French jazz filtering through the open-air terrace. The music gets friskier as the night
unfolds. The crowd is mostly under-25 expats, including many Europeans.
UP's Cinema CINEMA
( 284-494-2098; Pickering Rd) Located across from the Recreation Ground (reach it
by veering west, or left, from the roundabout), UP's is the only theater on the island, fea-
turing an almost endless list of action films. It also hosts occasional DJs and dance nights.
Shopping
When cruise ships sail into port, craft hawkers come out in droves around Wickhams Cay
1 and set up canopied stalls filled with tchotchkes. Head over to Main St for more soph-
isticated wares. Note that there isn't really much in the way of shopping compared to what
you'll find in Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas (the Virgins' other big cruise ship port).
