Roti Palace

On a side
street that leads up the hill off Main St (look for Samarkand Jewelers and go up the stairs
beside it), this cramped little restaurant serves some of the island's best roti at its open-air
plastic tables. Fiery chutney sets off the chicken, beef, conch or vegetable fillings, which
you can try to tame with a cold beer. The older woman who runs the Palace keeps erratic
hours, so you might want to call first to make sure she's there.
Dove

The cozy, French-flaired
Dove, set in a historic house, is pretty much the top address in town. The menu changes
but you might see pan-seared foie gras, dry aged steaks, charcuterie platters, even some
sushi. For something lighter, head upstairs to the wine bar for tapas. Oh, did we mention
the wine? The list at the Dove is supposedly the BVI's longest.
Capriccio di Mare

Set on the porch of a classic West Indian house across from the ferry dock, this Italian
cafe draws both locals and travelers. Breakfast includes pastries and cappuccino. Lunch
and dinner feature salads, pasta dishes and pizza, with plenty of wines to wash it all down.
Le Grand Cafe

The open air
Le Grand Cafe concocts its escargot, foie gras and seafood dishes using provisions flown
in from French St-Martin. Croque monsieur and tomato and goat cheese panini with frites
satisfy for lunch. The open-air terrace, carved from a classic West Indian house, becomes a
happenin' scene at night with DJs and live music.
