In-Depth Information
Village Cay Hotel & Marina HOTEL $$
( 284-494-2771; www.villagecayhotelandmarina.com ; Wickhams Cay 1; r
$150-225; ) Located smack in the middle of Road Town overlooking the bay's
yacht slips, Village Cay is a sweet place to rest your head, especially if you want to
schmooze with fellow boaters. The 23 rooms, suites and condos have first-class amenities
for less than you'll find elsewhere in town. The free wi-fi is available in the common areas
only (no in-room access). A lot of yacht charterers like to 'chill' here before or after going
to sea, so it books up fast. If nothing else, come for a drink at the pier-side bar-restaurant.
Moorings-Mariner Inn HOTEL $$
( 284-494-2333; www.bvimarinerinnhotel.com ; Wickhams Cay 2; r $220-395;
) Located on the water at Wickhams Cay 2, the Mariner Inn stands adjacent to the
docks supporting the Moorings' mammoth fleet of charter sailboats. The place consistently
bustles with guests leaving on or returning from yacht charters. The 40 rooms in the two-
story building have balconies and upper-end amenities. There's a lovely swimming pool; a
long, festive outdoor bar (where you can use the free wi-fi); and an ATM, restaurant and
convenience store onsite. It's a 20-minute walk (or $5 cab ride) from downtown.
Maria's by the Sea HOTEL $$
( 284-494-2595; www.mariasbythesea.com ; Wickhams Cay 1; r $160-280;
) Maria's is on the harbor (no beach) at Wickhams Cay 1. If you like watching the coming
and going of charter yachts from a seaside pool and sundeck, this expansive three-story op-
eration with 40 units may be for you. All rooms have balconies, kitchenettes and tropical
but plain-Jane decor. At press time, the property was adding new rooms. There's free wi-fi
in the common areas and in some rooms on the lower level (ask for it if you need it, though
be aware it's spotty).
Fort Burt Hotel HOTEL $$
( 284-494-2587; www.fortburt.com ; Waterfront Dr; r/ste from $115/240;
) The hotel rises out of the ruins of a 300-year-old Dutch fort that once guarded the har-
bor from a steep hillside. The 10 rooms and eight suites have business amenities, free wi-fi
and access to the main pool; most have sweeping sea views and some of the suites even
have private pools. Be ready to climb lots of steps to get to your room. It's a trek to Road
Town's center, though there's a good restaurant-bar onsite.
