Getting There & Around
AIR
Terrence B Lettsome Airport (EIS; 284-494-3701) is on Beef Island, connected to
Tortola by a bridge on the island's East End. It is a 25-minute drive between the airport and
Road Town. All flights from the USA, Canada and Europe connect through a hub (usually
Puerto Rico or St Thomas, but also Antigua). Main airlines include:
Air Sunshine( www.airsunshine.com ) Via St Thomas.
American Eagle( www.aa.com ) Via San Juan.
Cape Air( www.flycapeair.com ) Via San Juan.
LIAT( www.liatairline.com ) Via Antigua.
Smaller airlines with regularly schedule service to/from Caribbean destinations include:
BVI Airways( www.gobvi.com ) Antigua, St-Martin/Sint Maarten and Dominica
WinAir( www.fly-winair.com ) Antigua and St-Martin/Sint Maarten
BOAT
Tortola is a ferry hub to the rest of the Virgins. The two main ports of entry are at Road
Town and West End; a smaller dock at Trellis Bay on Beef Island has boats to Virgin
Gorda's north-end resorts. See the BVIWelcomeGuide( www.bviwelcome.com ) for cost
and schedule details. Most ferries do not operate after 5pm. See the Transportation chapter
( Click here ) for more information on the main ferry routes.

want to do much exploring of the island and its beaches. However, driving can be a bit
tricky: the roads are narrow and twisty, and they go up and down Tortola's mountains via
