Galleon, located dockside at Green Cay Marina, is the choice of East Enders who are in the
mood for fine French and Northern Italian dinners. Fra diavola (shrimp, mussels and fish
in a spicy tomato sauce over linguini), coq au vin and duck confit are popular main dishes.
To get here from Christiansted, take East End Rd (Rte 82) for about 3 miles and turn left at
the marina sign.

Divi Carina Bay Beach Resort CASINO
(Rte60) Slots and the usual games are here in a plush but virtually windowless 10,000-sq-
foot setting. Players will feel out of place if they do not dress the part of a high roller.
There's live music nightly in the 'showbar.'
North Shore
Luminescent bays, Chris Columbus' landing pad and hot dive sites await along the North
Shore. Divers and beach lovers can choose from several cool little hotels to be near the ac-
tion.
Sights
Salt River National Historic Park PARK
( www.nps.gov/sari ) The Salt River Bay estuary, about 4 miles west of Christiansted on
North Shore Rd (Rte 80), is the only documented site where Christopher Columbus landed
on US soil. More importantly, Salt River is the site where, on November 14, 1493, Native
Americans first tried to repel European intruders. Not only is Salt River the site where the
Caribs first drew Spanish blood (at the so-called Cape of Arrows on the bay's eastern tip),
but the shores are also the site of some of the earliest French, English and Danish colonial
efforts.
Don't expect bells and whistles; the park remains undeveloped beach. It is most easily
viewed from a parking lot at the western entrance to the bay - built on top of the ceremonial
